USDA PLANTS AND PROTECTION QUARANTINE (PPQ) FACILITY LIVS Associates, LLC provided programming, site design, and full architectural and engineering services for the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Plant Protection and Quarantine (PPQ) Facility at Miami International Airport. This 45,000-square-foot facility serves as the primary control point for the import and export of plant material in the southeastern United States. It includes specialized inspection areas, diagnostic laboratories, fumigation chambers, and treatment labs designed for the identification of pests and diseases and the safe disposal of contaminated materials. In addition, the building accommodates administrative offices for PPQ staff and the Port Director. Completed in 2010 using the Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR) delivery method, the project was delivered at a construction cost of $23 million.
