MIAMI - DADE COUNTY PET ADOPTION AND PROTECTION CENTER LIVS provided comprehensive architectural services including programming, schematic design, design development, construction documents, and construction administration for the adaptive reuse of an existing warehouse into a modern animal shelter. The design concept was inspired by a “mall experience,” allowing the public to comfortably browse and “shop” for their new companion. The facility includes new administrative offices, 418 adoption cages, two operating rooms, two clinics, and flexible public gathering areas for education and community outreach. All spaces were designed to withstand heavy daily use while maintaining safety and durability. Scope highlights included: Replacement of all exterior windows and doors, installation of a new roof, and a new 250-ton HVAC system. Upgraded plumbing systems with ADA-compliant group restrooms, locker rooms, and showers. Enhanced electrical service, upgraded to 1,800 amps (1150KW). Complete electrical design, including normal and emergency generator power distribution, general lighting, fire alarm, intercom, and security systems. The facility was designed and constructed to meet LEED certification standards established by the U.S. Green Building Council. Construction Cost: $25M
