BROWARD COUNTY ANIMAL CARE AND ADOPTION CENTER Design and Construction Administration of a new 45,000-square-foot animal care shelter for the Broward County Animal Care & Regulation Division in Fort Lauderdale. This public facility serves the community by providing housing and adoption services for the county’s animal population. The shelter includes clinics and surgical suites equipped with laboratory casework, oxygen, and medical gases. To promote animal health and create a welcoming environment for adoptions, the design emphasizes natural light and openness featuring large volume spaces, clerestory windows, high ceilings in public areas, and skylights in adoption zones. All interior finishes were selected for long-term durability and resilience, supporting the facility’s intended 50-year service life. The electrical scope included full design for normal and emergency generator power distribution, general lighting, fire alarm, intercom, and security systems. The project achieved LEED Silver certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.
